NEW HAVEN, Iowa — A new apartment building on the southwest corner of the city will feature a courtyard garden, two-bedroom units and outdoor seating for its 2,500 residents.
“We believe this project brings us to a new level in our relationship with the community and city of Huntsville, and the community will be happy with this,” said Jason Pappas, the project’s general manager.
The building, which is located just across the street from the historic Huntsville Hotel, will be called the Cascade Apartments, according to Pappacos.
It will feature about 15,000 square feet of living space, two bedrooms and four baths.
Pappas said he hopes to open the building in late 2018.
Cascade has been in the works for about three years, and it has been built on an abandoned industrial site in the northeast corner of Huntsfield and Interstate 35.
About 30 people applied to be part of the project, but Pappachas said there were about two dozen applicants who did not get on the list.
They are mostly students, he said.
Some of those students are taking classes in the fall and spring semester.
There are no plans for a third phase, Pappapas said.
