Two New Jersey Democrats said they won’t support Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in the face of President Donald Trump’s executive order that temporarily blocks entry to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
“We won’t be voting for her,” Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) told the New York Times in an interview published Sunday.
“If she’s not going to represent the people of New Jersey, she’s going to be a tool of the Republican Party, and we’re going to try to be that tool.”
Sen. Martin Heinrich (D) said he will vote for Trump.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D), another New Jersey Democrat, told The Associated Press in an email that he would support Clinton “in the general election but not in the general presidential election.”
He added that he has not decided whether to run in 2020.
