A landlord who refuses to allow guests to stay for up to 30 days is being sued by the city of Seattle.
In the lawsuit filed Monday in King County Superior Court, the landlord says Airbnb has been “intentionally violating” the state’s Airbnb laws.
Airbnb says it is looking into the allegations.
“This is an extraordinary, and highly unusual, lawsuit that demands the highest level of legal expertise and investigation to understand exactly what happened and why,” said Brian McNamara, an attorney representing the landlord.
He said Airbnb is cooperating with the investigation and that the company has been in compliance with state law.
The city of Lakewood, which is the home of Seattle’s Airbnb rental-home market, has been sued by several people in the same lawsuit.
