A couple weeks ago, we took a trip to Pittsburgh to visit with my wife and my daughter.
I was eager to find out what we’d find at our new apartment.
I’m a sucker for high rise apartments, and we’d heard so much about them, we were looking forward to the new digs.
I didn’t know they also include two balconies.
But after I got to my apartment building, I was struck by the fact that the apartment wasn’t a high rise.
Instead, it was a high-rise apartment that used to be a single-family home.
It was also the kind of apartment that would require a lot of maintenance to keep it looking good and looking safe.
So, I called my local maintenance company and found out what was going on with my building’s building codes.
The company, which I found out was called Treadwell Properties, told me that the code for the building was “high-rise residential,” and that a lot more would be required to make sure that my new apartment was “safe and habitable.”
The Treadwood Properties website included a checklist that included the amount of water, air, and sewage that must be maintained and the amount and types of furniture and appliances that must come with the unit.
The checklist also included information on the amount, type, and type of appliances that would be needed to meet the code.
When I went to the building to check, I learned that the building had installed new sprinkler systems, but I wasn’t able to verify the sprinkler system’s performance.
In other words, the sprinklers were only supposed to be used to make water in the apartment safe for people who lived there.
So while I was looking for a place to rent in the building, the Tread Woods Properties website told me to look for apartments that had no sprinkler equipment.
I knew the code was high-use residential, and I figured I could go ahead and rent the apartment in the first place.
Then, the next day, I got a call from the T Readwood Properties customer service team.
“Your apartment is currently occupied and therefore requires sprinkler service,” the team said.
“We recommend you contact the T Reading Properties Maintenance Department to discuss the sprinkles, as there is a sprinkler issue at your building.”
I was completely confused.
If you’re like me, you’ll tell yourself, well, maybe the sprinkling system isn’t necessary for a highrise apartment.
After all, if you’re renting a unit with no sprinklers, the building is still in compliance.
But, the team also explained that sprinklers are a great addition to a highrises building, but they also come with a couple of other safety concerns.
For starters, sprinklers make it difficult for firefighters to control the fire and to save lives.
Also, if there’s a fire in the unit, there’s no sprinkling, which could cause an explosion, as well as the sprinkled floor and ceiling to crack.
So, I took a chance and rented a two-bedroom apartment.
And what happened?
A few weeks later, I started to hear about other highrise apartments with sprinkler units in them.
One apartment, a two story building in South Lake Union, Illinois, also had sprinkler sprinklers installed, but it wasn’t quite the same as my new highrise.
In South Lake, the residents lived in apartments with three floors of units, with one floor being a garage and another floor being an apartment.
The unit on the third floor of the apartment was an elevator that was installed at the top of the building and would be used for elevators.
My apartment was also located in Southlake, so the residents there lived in one-bedroom apartments that were equipped with sprinklers.
After I rented my apartment, I did a little research to see what kind of sprinklers would be installed in my new building.
I found an article from the New York Times about the city’s building code, and the code states that the maximum sprinkler volume should be 5 gallons per minute.
And in the article, the code also states that “the sprinkler must be installed at least four feet above the floor or foundation, and that no sprinklings are required above the ceiling.”
I also found the same article on the city of Pittsburgh’s website, and while the code says that there’s an additional requirement for the sprinklings in an apartment with no elevators, the information is only there to make it easier for landlords to comply with the building code.
In other words: It’s not a big deal to have sprinklers in your apartment.
It’s just not worth the hassle.
I called the TReadwood Properties maintenance department and asked them about the sprinklements, but the customer service representative told me the code required an additional 5 gallons of water per minute, and they were unable to give me the information I
